Michael sets big media straight on TN voters. To wit, the NYTimes has been running their little political map, which state is leaning left/right, which state is solidly left/right and the states that are toss-ups. TN has been in the light pick, leaning right, up until recently, when polls showed Ford jr. and Corker to be in a dead heat.
But, even more incidious, in today's NYTimes, Robin Toner asserts (emphasis mine):
In Tennessee, another Southern state long considered safely red, Representative Harold E. Ford Jr., a Democrat, has run a strong campaign that has kept that state in contention.
So, let me reiterate what Michael has to say:
Polls and surveys have shown for 12 years now that independents outnumber both Republicans and Democrats.
Let me remind you (and big media) that TN voters helped put Clinton in office and to keep him there.
