Tom DeLay's new book is out. I doubt I'll ever read it, unless as an exercise in understanding how some righties are intent on destroying our country. According to this NYTimes piece, DeLay spares no one, not even Bush.
“I consider George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Denny Hastert all to be good men,” Mr. DeLay writes, “but there is not an articulate voice among them.”
As far as DeLay is concerned, he has no responsibility for his own part in the Jack Abramoff scandal, or his strong-arm tactics to pass bad legislation. What he does get right, in part, is why the repugs lost Congress last November.
...attributes the Republican defeat in November to frustration with President Bush, the war and “a general perception of Republican incompetence and lack of principles.”
It's interesting that DeLay sees himself as being "aggressive and mean," but does not see himself as part of the problem. Instead, he points his finger in various other directions, in fact, towards everyone other than himself.
So, Tom DeLay is still living in DeLay-land, blaming everyone else but himself. I have one word for him: accountability. Look it up, DeLay, you might find your own picture as an illustration. It is the lack of accountability and responsibility by yourself and other righties in Congress that is central to your loss of control.
